What inspired or motivated you to become an Wedding/Event Planner?

I'm a small-town Pennsylvania native with big-city experience. I knew from an early age that my true passion lied within the event industry, after all; it’s in my blood. My father, Vince is an executive chef and owner of restaurants, bars, a catering company and venue that I was involved with from a young age. I graduated from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and quickly realized her passion for event planning while working as an intern with Philadelphia Magazine.

Tell us the day in the life of a Wedding/Event Planner?

Honestly, every day is different but can range from a day in the office on calls and returning e-mails to a day full of meetings with Charleston's top wedding vendors.

What is an event manager and why do you need one?

Once all of the plans are made and the big day arrives, the bride should be carrying around a bouquet of beautiful flowers and not a clipboard. An event manager is someone who caters exclusively to the bride and groom, acts as the point person for the day, creates and oversees the timeline, performs crowd control, and is immediately on hand to put out any fires quietly.

What special skills do you need to be a successful wedding/event planner?

Confidence and organization are definitely key. If you aren't confident and don't have organization someone is going to run the show for you.

What are the disadvantages of working for yourself?

You never get a break! With events on the weekends and clients during the week it's always a challenge to have a full day off. 


 

What are your greatest achievements?

We've achieved quite a few awards in the past year- Best of The Knot, Brides Choice Awards and interviews in national publications are just a few.

Name one thing that you could not live without in your business.

I hate to say it, but my iPhone. It keeps me on track with my calendar and contacts. It's my lifeline that also plays my favorite music.

What is your favourite or most popular product/service?

We're crazy about catering. I guess it's because it's in our blood. Charleston is a huge foodie town and with so many innovative caterers there is much to choose from. Whether you want an intimate plated dinner or a late night food truck surprise, it's all here and we love to play with the unique details.

How big a role does Social Media play in your business?

I'm a marketer at heart so I always love playing with all elements social media to promote our brand. It helps our clients keep track of our daily routine and past weddings. It's the storage house for all things Pure Luxe Bride. We even do live pictures, tweets and posts via www.facebook.com/pureluxebride or @pureluxebride (via instagram or twitter) from our weddings.
