Sand Art has become very popular in recent years - with artists being sponsored by companies seeking new advertising ideas to an annual world cup being held in the USA. Sand Art is an amazing skill where talented people model sand and water into amazing sculptures. So what can business learn from this new trend - how can artists who create something that will last at best a few weeks know about business?
Great Ideas - People always want something new and unique - we love to be surprised by creative artists. Sand art takes a material that is often free to use and create something that is unique. They see the opportunity in the market and use what is available to fill this.
Commitment - Its a long way from a plastic bucket and spade to create one of these masterpieces. It can take years to prefect the art and create a masterpiece. Never give up...the next piece could be the one.
Belief - You must believe in what you are doing - explaining to someone over a cup of tea that you are going to build sand art as a career may sound completely mad to them - you must believe in what you are doing 100% - otherwise you will never make it. Do you believe in yourself and your idea?
Vision - Sand Artists have amazing vision - to be able to visualise the end result - to know where to place the sand to create the creation. If you can see the end result you want then its obtainable - if you do not know what you want - what are you aiming for?
Drive and Persistence - you must be self motivated, there will be some tough days...cold days, days things do not go right. Are you driven enough to keep trying until you get it right?
Planning and Organising - Great co-ordination of people is building a large scale project, can you explain your vision - what you need people to do?
Interpersonal Skills - Can you sell your vision, passion and dream to others around you - so they help? Could you motivate and inspire someone you just met on a beach to help you create your masterpiece?
Goal Setting - Set regular goals - create a plan and make it happen. You cannot achieve everything in one day - same as Sand Art - you need to plan your work. Fix deadlines and make it happen.
